A Positive Voice for Chisago Lakes Schools

Student-Focused, Community-Minded Leadership

Our Chisago Lakes schools are where my heart is!

Serving the Chisago Lakes school community, and public education as a whole, is my passion and my life’s work. Over the past 20 years, I have taught in the classroom, trained student teachers, volunteered, and served on the school board.

I became engaged in the C.L. school system immediately upon moving to the area in 1998. I volunteered, taught reading and math intervention groups, helped with playground initiatives, worked on levy efforts, and served on the ECFE Advisory Board and parent-teacher groups.

There is nothing more rewarding for me than to have a role in ensuring that all children, regardless of their circumstances, have a road to a successful future.

Let’s continue this empowering journey together.

Thank you for your support.

Dedicated, Innovative, Experienced

Dedicated to Student Achievement

Throughout my career, my guiding principle has been simple: our students are at the heart of everything I do. As a proud Wildcat, and the mom of two CLHS graduates, I have worked tirelessly to contribute to the success of our students and our school community. Whether through my involvement in fair school funding initiatives or my hands-on work with parent groups, advisory boards, and various committees, my dedication to the needs of our students has never wavered.

Committed to Creative, Collaborative Solutions

I believe in leading with integrity, listening to all voices, and making informed decisions that set our students up for academic excellence. People who have worked with me over the last 20 years would confirm that I consistently seek creative solutions through collaboration, mutual respect, listening, research, and pragmatic problem-solving.

Experienced and Ready to Lead

My 20 years of school board experience includes: setting policy, hiring and evaluating superintendents, negotiating contracts, communicating with students, staff, and community members, lobbying legislators, establishing levy campaigns, and adding student school board members to our board. I have served as the Board's Chairperson for the last 2 years. I have also been privileged to serve on the Minnesota School Board Association’s Delegate Assembly and was honored to be chosen for MSBA’s All-State School Board. These roles have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to effectively navigate the complexities of educational policy and advocacy.

Proud of Our Chisago Lakes Schools

The Chisago Lakes school system is a shining star in this region because of the dedication of so many staff members, students and families. I am proud of all of the hard work being done in our buildings every day. There is so much happening that deserves recognition and praise.

Here are just a few things you should know:

  • Our Curriculum Director has worked with our educators at every level to establish C.L. as a leader in the area of literacy instruction.

  • Our High School offers multiple career pathways, including college readiness, STEM offerings, a highly recognized CTE program, and an Associate’s degree that can be earned while in high school.

  • Under the direction of our Superintendent, we will soon be bringing the community together to re-establish a strategic plan.

The future looks bright for our outstanding schools.

Looking Ahead

As I contemplate my priorities for the Chisago Lakes District, I realize they are within the same context they have always been: Keep students at the center of all decisions; maintain respectful relationships; and keep moving forward together. I know and have seen that a strong Chisago Lakes school system supports a strong Chisago Lakes community. Four immediate priority areas are:

1. Educational Quality: Ensure that all Chisago Lakes students receive a high-quality education with multiple pathways toward a successful future.

2. Community Engagement: Bring many voices to the table to maintain respectful and open lines of communication. With parents, teachers, and community members engaged, we are more likely to build trust and unity.

3. Fiscal Responsibility: Manage budgets effectively, ensure financial resources are used wisely and financial decisions remain transparent.

4. Policy Compliance: Navigate state and federal education policies, advocate for changes that would benefit Chisago Lakes, and ensure the district complies with legal requirements.
